Info: New York vegan restaurant in the neighborhood of Chelsea. Fine dining with menu of gourmet vegan cuisine. Brunch is served on weekends. Chic elegant interior with a fireplace and antique-style banquette. Reservations strongly recommended. Price: Expensive. Accepts credit cards.

Hours: Mon-Thu 5-9:30pm, Fri-Sun 12-2:45pm, Fri-Sat 5-10pm, Sun 5-9pm.


Blossom is a pleasant intimate restaurant.  It deserves its place at one of the ‘10 best upscale vegan restaurants in America’, Shape, Aug 2012.


Wine: Malbec, Don David 2009, Cafayette Valley, Argentina. $12

Dinner, Entree: Vegetable Mezze Plate, $18. Side: Grilled Portobello, $6.

From the Menu: Snow peas, escarole & cannellini beans, baby carrots, sautéed kale, purple yam purée, spiced quinoa pilaf and tahini spirulina.

(Spirulina is a fresh water algae that provides all essential amino acids, many other nutrients and contains 60% protein. Complemented with my own Wasa crisp bread.)


The veggie plate was a bit disappointing although its featured quinoa pilaf and the escarole/bean components stood out in taste and presentation. Unfortunately I could not use the tahini spirulina sauce for flavoring the bland carrots, snow peas or kale because of the sesame seed fat, The yam puree was less exciting than its looks. The wine as well as my side order of Portobello mushrooms saved the evening since they were full of flavors.
