Full of taste and a little crunch. This dish will win you over after your first try! Irresistible.

Get in Advance:

 

2-3 Ripe* Green Anjou pears

 

Have On Hand:

Grape Nuts cereal

Rum

Maple syrup

 

*) If hard keep them at room temperature for several days until ripened.

Ingredients

Roasted-Pears-Ingredients-4x6

Recipe

(Adapted and expanded from Esselstyn p171)

 

For 2 Portion (Prep time 40 min)

 

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F

 

Prepare Pears

Cut in half and take out cores, stems and flowers. Place in baking pan.

Fill each half with teaspoon of maple syrup

Add 1 tablespoon rum

 

Bake and garnish

Bake in upper rack for 25-30 min until pares are starting to bubble beneath their skin.

Take out of the oven and cover pears with Grape Nuts

Add a bit more of syrup and rum

Bake a few more minutes until starting to brown slightly.
